A couple of days ago we covered a report from L’Equipe that Aston Villa were set to use their buying option on Anwar El Ghazi.
The player spent last season on loan with the then Championship club, and after Villa achieved promotion to the Premier League it always seemed likely the deal would be made permanent.
L’Equipe said the option was worth around €9m, and with Lille looking to raise as much as €120m from transfers before the end of July, it would be a welcome windfall for the Ligue 1 club.
VTBL in the Netherlands now report the Dutchman has signed a four year contract with Aston Villa. They explain that whilst the Bimringham side did have an option, it wasn’t a one-sided thing, and Lille and El Ghazi both needed to give their agreement before the deal could be done.
The Dutch outlet have been informed that’s the case and the 24 year old is all signed up with Aston Villa for the next four seasons.
