Earlier this week Ilkay Gundogan spoke to the German media and made it clear he thinks Leroy Sane will continue as a Manchester City player.
With Bayern Munich expressing their interest both publicly and to the Premier League champions directly, the story has obviously been a big one in Germany.
Bayern have openly said they’re trying to convince Sane to join them, and if they get the desired response they’ll move on to serious talks with Manchester City.
Bild has an article today which takes quotes from Joshua Kimmich, who seems to be doing his best to the push for the transfer.
The Bayern player is quoted as saying: “I would like to have Leroy at Bayern. That’s the right signal. He is a player who fits in well with Bayern.
“He is a young, German player with great potential, who was not allowed to play at City – especially in the important games – which I personally cannot understand.
“I think he has to play. And he plays with us! It is his decision and the task of those responsible to convince such a player.”
PSG’s Julian Draxler added: “I only addressed him the last few days with ‘Mia san mia’…”
It would be perfectly reasonable at this stage for Manchester City to be annoyed with how Bayern are going about things, unless they’ve given permission for them to speak to Sane.
