Earlier this month, a story appeared in Mundo Deportivo claiming Alexandre Lacazette had been identified by Barcelona as an alternative to Antoine Griezmann.
The Atlético Madrid forward is the favourite to bolster the Catalans’ attack this summer, with many believing the transfer as being in its final stages, yet the Arsenal forward was also on the list of players targeted by the La Liga champions.
Mundo Deportivo were clear in that ‘no negotiations’ had taken place between the two clubs or between Barcelona and the player at the time, but that has now allegedly changed, according to Le10 Sport in France.
The website claim to confirm the previous reports of Barcelona being keen on Lacazette, and add that ‘first contacts’ have been made with the striker’s entourage to let them know of their interest.
However, they do state the Catalans are yet to make a ‘concrete offer’
As things stand, Lacazette is considered as a ‘serious alternative’ to Griezmann, whose wages at Atlético Madrid are proving problematic for Barcelona.
Should they ‘give up’ on the 28-year-old, they would then look at the Arsenal man ‘more concretely’.
