Linked with a rather large move to Arsenal in January, Ismaila Sarr stayed at Rennes to finish the season, helping them lift the Coupe de France after beating Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.
With just two games to go in Ligue 1 and Rennes currently 12th (but qualified for Europe through their cup win), the 21-year-old has seven goals and seven assists to his name in 31 appearances.
This return has caught the eye of a number of clubs, including Leicester City, who are among three sides to have enquired about the Senegal international recently.
The information comes from Senegal’s Press Agency (APS), who spoke to a member of the player’s entourage to try and find out more about Sarr’s future in France.
They said: “Leicester, AS Roma and Milan are the three clubs who have manifested a real interest for the player”.
Questioned about Arsenal and Liverpool, both touted as glamorous landing spots for the youngster, the source claimed they had ‘no news’ from the Premier League pair.
Making it clear via L’Equipe that his future largely depended on what Rennes’ president had planned for next season, Sarr could end up with an interesting choice to make.
On the one hand, he could move to Roma or Milan and play in Europe for less money or sign for Leicester, where he would likely get paid more but might get more time on the pitch depending on Rodgers’ plans for him.
