Following Brendan Rodgers’ exit for Leicester City in February, Celtic appointed Neil Lennon until the end of the current season.
Marco Rose has been one of the men most linked with potentially taking over from Lennon at Celtic Park. The 42 year old is currently in charge at Red Bull Salzburg and his reputation has been building around European football.
Getting Rose would certainly have been an interesting appointment for the Scottish Premiership club, but he now looks like a name which needs to struck off the list of potential new managers.
It was today announced by Borussia Monchengladbach that Dieter Hecking will be leaving his role as the club’s manager at the end of the season.
Quickly after that, several German media outlets, including Bild, reported that Rose is set to take over from him, with an agreement between the parties said to be roughly already in place.
Rose has a contract at Salzburg until 2020, and, just like Celtic would have had to, Gladbach will be paying €1m in compensation.
