As Bruno Fernandes gets another big story from the Portuguese media this Monday, Chelsea are the Premier League side being linked to the midfielder.
The claims come from O Jogo, as the newspaper says the midfielder doesn’t want to talk about a renewal at the moment, as he will only listen to the offers in the summer.
Sporting want to give their star a pay raise, but more importantly than that, they want to cancel the private clause in his contract which says the player can leave for only €35m.
We covered this at the weekend, and it’s not thought the clause is enforceable, but Sporting would still like to get rid of it. The player’s official clause is €100m.
As O Jogo lists the interested sides, they say Milan, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea have all been following the midfielder as they consider to sign him in the summer.
O Jogo completely ignores the fact that Chelsea are forbidden to sign players in the next transfer windows, so we wonder if they are aware of that.
Interestingly for Chelsea fans… last week Fernandes was compared to Frank Lampard, as he’s close to reaching the midfielder’s record of goals scored in a season.
The Portuguese media appear to be rotating with Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea s the English club to link.
