Newcastle United have reportedly made an official bid to sign Andreas Samaris from Benfica.
After a long time being linked to the Greek international, the Magpies have made a direct attempt today, according to O Jogo.
The Premier League side are reportedly offering €300k to have Samaris until the end of the season.
As his contract with Benfica expires in the summer, then the player will have the chance to sign a two-year deal with Newcastle.
O Jogo claims that the Mapgies have proposed Benfica to have a percentage in case of a future sale, which makes the offer look better.
As the bid was just made, Benfica are still to respond, and we should have more details in tomorrow’s Portuguese newspapers.
Samaris’ departure from Benfica at the end of the season wasn’t considered certain, as the Eagles had reportedly been trying to give him a new contract. However, with a bid from the Premier League, it should be hard for the Lisbon side to keep him for longer.
Three days ago, it was reported in Portugal that Newcastle were putting their offer in writing, and this would be the result of that.
