Last weekend, we carried a report from Het Nieuwsblad, who claimed that Marouane Fellaini was ‘hurt’ after Manchester United parted ways with their manager Jose Mourinho.
Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge at Old Trafford in December, the 31-year-old has played for three minutes in the league, while he has 28 minutes to his name in the FA Cup victory over Reading.
Another Belgian newspaper, Het Laatste Nieuws, brings an update on the former Everton man and the story has a headline that reads ‘Departure Fellaini not excluded’.
After being left out of the squad to face Tottenham, the midfielder is aware that he’s no longer seen as a key player at the club.
AC Milan were offered the chance to sign him, but their new CEO Ivan Gazidis is not keen on investing in a player who is already above 30.
He was also offered to FC Porto, while he is also attracting interest from Fenerbahce and China.
These clubs have already been linked by Het Nieuwsblad, but there’s no credit from HLN. At the time of the original claims, we explained that the Porto link is somewhat laughable given the player’s wages.
Even though Manchester United are open to the idea of sanctioning the Belgium international’s sale, they will not sell him for a bargain price. Only an ‘attractive offer’ will convince the Premier League side to sanction his sale in January.
