Turkish newspaper Star claim Besiktas are interested in signing Celtic’s Belgian defender Dedryck Boyata, as the Black Eagles look to replace recently departed Pepe.
Star report Besiktas officials are ready to open talks with Celtic for the 28-year old as they are hopeful of concluding a January deal for the former Manchester City player.
Last summer Boyata wanted to leave the Scottish club, but Brendan Rodgers blocked a move for the Belgium international.
It’s also claimed Besiktas are facing competition from Fulham who are said to be interested in signing the player. The Premier League club have struggled in defence this season and may need to bring in reinforcements.
Boyata’s contract with Celtic will expire at the end of the season and he’s now free to talk with other clubs from overseas with regards to signing a pre-contract agreement.
The 28-year old has played 13 Premiership games for Celtic this season, scoring one goal.
