From the first time PSG interest in Idrissa Gueye was reported in France, we pointed out the club’s local media was perhaps being too optimistic about there being any possibility of Everton agreeing to a deal.
PSG are again working under some restrictions as they look to abide by FFP, which means the possibility of just throwing increasing amounts of money at Everton until the club say yes is excluded.
Today’s edition of L’Equipe reports PSG are on a never ending quest to sign a number 6. However, they have ‘limited’ financial capabilities and the budget for this purpose doesn’t exceed €35m.
The 29 year old has a contract with Everton lasting until 2022, they’re hardly going to agree to a cut-price move in January.
And L’Equipe are starting to accept that, saying today that the ‘consequent demands of the Toffees’ could see the potential transfer fall to pieces.
Liverpool’s Fabinho is also an option but seen as ‘almost impossible’.
