On New Year’s Day, we covered a report from Marca, who claimed that Sevilla and Real Betis have joined Valencia in the race to sign Javier Hernandez from West Ham United.

Wednesday’s edition of Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo has a story on the 30-year-old with a headline that reads ‘Chicharito is the first option for the attack’, while talking about Los Che’s transfer plans in the winter market.

Marcelino is looking to cut short Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi’s loan spell and is also open to the idea of parting ways with Kevin Gameiro.

Valencia want to strengthen the attack by bringing in the Mexico international in January, but the La Liga outfit may struggle to spend big in sealing the deal for the striker.

It’s claimed the Hammers are demanding a €20m fee, while Valencia are working towards securing the deal for the former Manchester United star on loan with an option to buy.

Mundo doesn’t mention if West Ham will accept Valencia’s terms and another hindrance for the latter is that Sevilla and Betis are also looking at Hernandez.
