Late on Friday evening, Bild reported that Christian Pulisic has agreed to move to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
That was then picked up by the English media, but it’s worth clarifying what the German newspaper actually reported.
Bild don’t say the transfer is completely agreed. They claim that according to their own information, Pulisic himself has agreed to join Chelsea.
It’s then stated that Borussia Dortmund had assured the US international he can leave for €50m next summer. They don’t then say whether Chelsea are happy to pay such a fee or whether the Blues would try to get the amount down.
Also in Germany, Kicker cover Bild’s claims and say ‘a confirmation of the agreement does not yet exist’.
Kicker also believe the €50m is ‘a bit too high’, given that Pulisic will only have a year of contract left, and they believe something from €40m upwards would be ‘more realistic’.
Ruhr Nachricthen, perhaps the most reliable and calmest when it comes to Dortmund, say that whilst they know Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are interested, they haven’t been able to back up the Bild claims.
