Manchester United midfielder Fred spoke to Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo following the team’s 1-0 win over Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old, who started the game, was happy for his performance, despite saying the team missed ‘many chances’ to win the game before Fellaini’s winner on additional time.
Esporte Interativo selected a fan question which was ‘how is it like to work with José Mourinho?’, and Fred was glad to answer it.
“He is a great coach, coach who has a big star. And always at the end of the game we win, he can switch (make substitutions) well,” Fred told Esporte Interativo.
“But he’s a great coach on a daily basis. He’s always joking with us, talking, supporting us. So I’m very happy to be here at this great team and very happy to be working with him too.”
Fred also talked about the adaptation to a new climate and a new language in Manchester: “It’s cool for me, I came from Ukraine. Then I caught the cold, a very different language as well. So this process of adaptation, of course this is a very different league, the Premier League from the Ukrainian league.
“But I try to adapt in the best way, every day I have been improving more. On a daily basis I have been talking to my teammates, so I try to work more and more every day. I hope I can improve and get my football in gear as soon as possible.”
Regarding being out of Brazil’s last national team list, Fred said will he do all he can to be called up to Copa America next year.
“That’s true. I did not have such a good start this season at Manchester. I played little. Unfortunately I was off the last list. But as I said, it’s about working. Today I started the game again, and I managed to make a great match. Keep working, next game I have an opportunity, to show my football again. And of course, I hope he (Tite) will keep an eye on me, and I can be on the next list and at the Copa America.”
