After a great run of form with Manchester United, scoring five goals in his last four league games, Anthony Martial was rewarded with a call-up to the France squad by Didier Deschamps for this international break.
However, his next cap for his country will have to wait, as the French Football Federation website announced on Monday that both the forward and Paul Pogba would be sent home after they failed medicals at the hand of the doctor Franck Le Gall.
Martial was diagnosed with a problem at groin level, while the midfielder, who already missed the Manchester derby, which his club lost 3-1, was sent home because of an injury in his left thigh.
The pair have been replaced for the upcoming games against the Netherland (UEFA Nations League) and Uruguay (friendly) by Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko and Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette.
More details on this, such as length of layoffs and such, are likely to come soon.
