Ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Manchester United, Gazzetta dello Sport’s pre-game coverage of the upcoming Juventus game includes an interview with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The former Red Devils’ striker, now in charge of Molde in Norway, discussed a variety of topics, including his time at the club with Cristiano Ronaldo, who swapped Real Madrid for the Serie A champions in the summer.
However, no interview about Juventus and Manchester United would ever be complete in the Italian press without a certain Paul Pogba coming up, and the 45-year-old was asked what he thought of the midfielder’s return to the club, having managed him in the club’s reserves between 2008-2010.
He said: “Let’s hope he doesn’t get nostalgic about Turin and remains where he is now. He needs to understand that this is just a transition that, sooner of later, happens to all the big teams. Two ideal signings and they will be back at the top.”
As things stand, Manchester United currently sit seventh in the Premier League with 20 points from their opening 11 games, and are on a two game winning streak, beating both Everton and Bournemouth 2-1 over the past week or so.With the January window edging ever closer, and a rather disappointing summer transfer window behind them, at least in José Mourinho’s eyes, we’ll have to wait and see what the Red Devils have planned to turn their season around.
If history is anything to go by, missing out on the Champions League would mean the end of the Portuguese’s tenure at the club.
And that could also lead to Pogba forcing a move elsewhere, and no one at Old Trafford will want that.
