Southampton were reportedly one of the clubs who had scouts in the U-21 Euro Qualifiers match between Portugal and Bosnia this Tuesday night.
According to newspaper A Bola, Saints emissaries were watching the game from the stands, along with officials from Barcelona, Manchester United, Lille, Villareal and Benfica.
Portugal managed to beat Bosnia 4-2, and despite currently being second in Group 8, their campaign is good enough to get a playoff spot for next year’s tournament so far.
It was a Championship player who was picked as the man of the match by the local media. Nottingham Forest winger Diogo Gonçalves was brought in by the start of the second half, and scored a great goal after going past five Bosnian players.
Other Portuguese players such as André Horta and João Filipe Jota were also much praised for their performances. For the away side, Ermedin Demirovic and Aldin Turkes both scored.
A Bola doesn’t seem to know who Southampton had an eye on. Nottingham Forest midfielder João Carvalho also featured on the match, just like Man United players Joel Pereira and Diogo Dalot.
