Over the past month or so, Arsenal have again been repeatedly linked with a move for Nicolas Pepe.

It all comes from Barcelona being interested, and then the Catalan media bringing in supposed competition. First that was Manchester United, and then Arsenal and Everton were brought into the picture for the in-form Lille player.

Carrying on the Catalan nature of the claims, Saturday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona have ‘luxury competition’ for the 23 year old attacker.

That’s named as Arsenal and Bayern Munich, and it’s claimed both clubs have ‘intensified’ their route towards the player.

Usually, the Catalan media will explain why a Barcelona target would much prefer to sign for the Blaugrana over anyone else, but this time Arsenal and Bayern get the respectful ‘luxury’ destination treatment.

If Pepe carries on his form so far this season, which sees L’Equipe rate him as one of Ligue 1’s top three players so far, then he’s going to be an exciting purchase for someone next summer.
