Andreas Granqvist is continuing to openly speak about a potential transfer to Manchester United in the winter window.
On October 2nd, Sweden’s FotbollDirekt carried a claim of interest from the Premier League club, and also managed to get some quotes from the defender.
Granqvist was quoted as saying: “I know that there is a lot of interest for me. United is incredibly flattering but I have not heard anything concrete yet.”
Now it seems he wants to talk up the interest further.
Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet say Granqvist has confirmed interest from Manchester United.
The 33 year old was asked if there’s been contact between the English club and his agent: “For sure. You can call Martin Dahlin, you have his number, and hear what he says.”
The footballer explained he’s ‘incredibly proud and happy’ about the interest and potential move in the January window.
Asked if Jose Mourinho has called him, Granqvist said: “No, not to me yet personally.”
Despite the player’s claims about calling his agent, Aftonbladet did just that and were told: “As usual, I do not comment on rumours and speculation or specific clubs.”
This continues to be a big story in Sweden and it’s likely Granqvist will be asked about the potential move again before the end of the current international break.
