Rodrigo Moreno left Benfica and joined Valencia on loan in 2014 before the deal was made permanent a year later.
A move to the Mestalla saw him return to Spain after spending time with Real Madrid’s academy and their B team prior to his switch to Portugal in 2010.
After arriving at Benfica, they allowed the 27-year-old go out on loan to Bolton Wanderers and that helped him gain first hand experience with the senior team.
Valencia have travelled to England to face Manchester United and the Spain international was asked about his short spell with Bolton.
“It was my first year in the first division. I have fond memories and it helped me a lot to get where I am,” Rodrigo was quoted as saying by Super Deporte.
Los Che face United in the European competition, who have struggled in the Premier League so far this season.
When asked if it’s the best time to face Jose Mourinho’s side, he said: “They are not a club who are used to living unfavourable situations. It can be seen as the best or the worst moment.”
Along with Rodrigo, Michy Batshuayi, Gabriel Paulista and Francis Coquelin are other Valencia players who have the experience of playing in the Premier League in the past and it could be handy for them when they face United in the Champions League.
