Aston Villa initiated contact with manager last summer, research done, can appoint when needed

Rumours of Aston Villa potentially making a move to appoint Andrea Stramaccioni as manager have been pushed in the English media this week.

Those rumours have made their way to Italy where it’s been covered without any extra information being added up to this point. But now Calciomercato.it have pushed their own information on the potential move.

It’s claimed that ‘already last summer’ Aston Villa made contact with the former Inter Milan manager.

Although it’s not precisely clear if they mean summer 2018 or 2017, Calciomercato explain that Villa have therefore done their research and would be able to appoint Stramaccioni if they desire a managerial change.

Steve Bruce is currently under pressure and the club’s stuttering Championship campaign is the reason, along with the manager’s approach to football not going down universally well.

Stramaccioni is 42 years of age and made his name when given a chance at Inter. From there he went on to manage Udinese, Panathinaikos and Sparta Prague.

He hasn’t been in work since the Czech club sacked him in March.
