Betis want to strengthen today and their main plan is to sign Rafinha from Barcelona, something which has been the case for some weeks.

They’ve been finding it hard to reach an agreement with Barcelona. The blaugrana want a permanent transfer at well over €20m and Betis have wanted a loan so it’s been a case of trying to find somewhere to meet in the middle which is acceptable to all involved.

A loan with a compulsory purchase option, only triggered if Rafinha meets certain goals, is the latest idea, reports Diario de Sevilla.

If Rafinha fails then PSG’s Giovani Lo Celso is another option, but he’s on big wages and isn’t willing to take a pay cut in exchange for playing football.

Then there’s Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko who, even today as the Spanish window gets ready to close, remains an option for Betis. Things had ‘cooled’ but there’s a chance it could be revived.

The Seville club have already had one offer knocked back by Manchester City, who are convinced the price should be €18m, because that’s what Wolves offered.

Should Rafinha not happen, then it wouldn’t be a surprise for Betis to offer City a loan deal, which would become a permanent €18m transfer if Zinchenko meets their criteria.
