Despite club and manager disagreeing over how important bringing Henri Saivet to Saint-Étienne is, France Football are pretty sure the transfer is going to happen.
A move to Marseille was being touted earlier this summer, but that never happened due to various reasons, meaning Saint-Étienne, who were also in for Aston Villa’s Jordan Veretout, might end up being the ones getting him.
According to the French media outlet, the loan deal for the midfielder could also include a clause to buy the player for next season.
Considering Newcastle paid only €6m for him in the first place, we can’t see them asking for a whole lot more from the Ligue 1 side, even with a contract running until 2021.
Seeing as Saivet hasn’t made an appearance for the Championship side so far this season, this will probably happen, unless Saint-Étienne pull the plug at the last minute.
