The injury which left the Brazilian right-back Danilo out of the rest of the World Cup was a bit shocking at first, UOL reports today.
According to the website, the noise ‘scared those on the pitch’, and there was a suspicion that the Manchester City player could have broken his fibula.
Danilo was injured in an isolated play, with no ball dispute, which only shows how unlucky he was.
But further exams ruled out the severity of the ankle injury, and the player should now take five to six weeks of physiotherapy before playing again.
Danilo played only the first World Cup game for Brazil, and then picked up a hip injury in training. He even stayed on the bench for the round-of-16 game against Mexico, but was not brought in.
Even using crutches and a protection boot, the right-back was spotted entering the team bus for the quarter-finals match against Belgium today.
