Fernando Llorente is not renewing his contract with Tottenham Hotspur, his father and agent has revealed.
In an interview with website Calcio Napoli 24 this Friday, Chus Lorente has talked about the striker’s plans, saying there isn’t much of a future for him at Spurs.
Most of the interview was about alleged interest from Napoli, which his father doesn’t want to confirm for now.
“We know nothing about Napoli,” Chus Llorente told Calcio Napoli 24. “At the moment nobody has contacted us neither from Napoli nor from Tottenham, so at the moment I don’t have anything to say about it.
“Of course, we would be honoured to deal with the blues because we are talking about one of the top Italian football clubs.”
“We are talking about a top club, it would be a great honour if it was true that Napoli are interested in Fernando.”
Then Chus Llorente was asked if his son could be signing a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur, since his current deal expires in 2019. But he was pretty clear about it: “No, absolutely, we will not renew with Tottenham.”
Once again speaking about Napoli, Llorente’s father has praised the club’s new manager: “Ancelotti is one of the greatest managers in the world! He won virtually everything there was to win, there is nothing else to add.”
With the interviewer insisting a little bit, talking about the rivalry with Llorente’s former club Juventus, his father tried to calm things down: “Slow, slow. There is no negotiation at the moment.”
Signed last year, Llorente finished his season for Spurs with five goals in 31 appearances. As he rarely gets a start for the club, maybe that’s the reason his father is so sure he’s not staying for long.
