A long-term target for Antonio Conte, Antonio Candreva never made the switch from Serie A to the Premier League, instead moving from Lazio to Inter, where he was a regular under Luciano Spalletti last season.
There has been constant rumours he could leave, but a recent contract renewal could have put an end to that.
However, Gazzetta dello Sport don’t believe that will be the case, claiming he ‘should not be considered completely off the market’, with Tottenham allegedly interested.
Inter are said to be ‘willing to listen to offers’ for the 31-year-old, even if none have arrived, and the Italian newspaper are even doubtful whether or not Spurs will make a move.
They explain ‘there is no confirmation’ of Tottenham’s interest, and, looking at Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, it has to be asked if someone like Candreva is even needed at Wembley?
The purchase of Lucas Moura last January filled a role down the right hand side, who many would consider far more exciting and even versatile than the Italy international.
We’ll store this one in the doubtful section, which Gazzetta appear to have already done themselves.
If you see Candreva to Spurs story elsewhere, just know that even in Italy they’re finding it hard to believe.
