Unai Emery’s departure from Villarreal to take charge of Aston Villa should soon be official, according to the latest reports from Spain.
The new updates on this situation are brought by Jijantes FC’s Gerard Romero. The journalist claims the Villans’ offer to the coach is ‘irrefutable’.
It’s said Emery accepted his ‘immediate’ departure to Aston Villa, and is set to say goodbye to Villarreal on Wednesday.
That way, the coach won’t even be in charge for the club’s match against Hapoel Beer Sheva in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday.
Aston Villa’s agreement with Emery had also been reported by Marca. The newspaper said the deal between the parties is a ‘fact’, with the Premier League side offering the manager a three-year deal, with an option for a further one.
The same outlet now writes about a ‘pre-agreement’, and there is a ‘99%’ chance he won’t even be at Villarreal’s training session on Wednesday.
The 50-year-old, therefore, agrees his return to the Premier League, where he was in charge of Arsenal for 78 matches between July 2018 and November 2019. His CV includes one Ligue 1 trophy and for Europa Leagues.
