Perhaps it’s time for Mamadou Sakho to leave Liverpool.
That is, in essence, what France Football are trying to say on Tuesday, publishing an article looking at who in Europe could be looking for a move away from their current club in January, and how likely they actually are of doing so.
The French centre-back was a key figure for the Reds following the German’s appointment, but a failed drug test and a messy pre-season later, and the former Paris Saint-Germain star is as far from the starting line-up as is currently possible.
In fact, France Football reckon there is a 99.9% of Sakho going somewhere else in January, whether that is on a loan or on a permanent basis, but a return to Liverpool’s line-up seems very unlikely.
The French defender has been linked with a move back to France by Mercato 365 recently, with Lille apparently interested, but the player himself didn’t appear thrilled at the prospect.
France Football also mentioned his inclusion on a list of 50 names the Ligue 1 side are looking at for January via former Monaco director of football Luis Campos, alongside Lyon midfielder Clément Grenier.
If all the problems are behind him, there’s probably a few Premier League clubs who would be delighted to acquire his services.
