Lothar Matthäus has backed Borussia Dortmund to walk over Rangers F.C. in their upcoming Europa League meetings, believing they hold a 90:10 advantage in the clash.
Rangers were drawn with Dortmund in the Europa League draw earlier this week, with the German side having fallen into the competition after finishing third in their Champions League group behind Ajax and Sporting Lisbon.
The German side are automatically among the favourites for UEFA’s secondary club competition, given the quality of their squad.
With players such as Erling Haaland, Marco Reus and Jude Bellingham, to name just three, they are undoubtedly among the best sides in the competition.
Indeed, they are already the bookers favourites, ahead of the likes of Sevilla, Atalanta and even Barcelona.
It means Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have their work cut out for them if they are to progress from their meetings in February, something that Matthäus simply can’t see happening.
“BVB are the clear and firm favourite against Glasgow Rangers,” he wrote in his column for Sky Sports Germany.
“This is an absolute top draw for the Dortmund team. If spectators are allowed, fans and players can enjoy a great atmosphere.
“From a sporting point of view, I see Dortmund with a 90:10 advantage. Anything other than advancing would surprise me greatly”.
