It seems that Manchester City’s interest for South American youngsters continues to exist. After spending quite a few millions on Brazilian, Argentine and Colombian players in the past few years, the club already has an eye on other targets.
As reported by Globo Esporte, Pep Guardiola’s side have scouts watching the U20 Copa Libertadores this year, which is being hosted in Uruguay.
And Manchester City would already have a player they’ve been attentive to, which is 18 year old Stiven Plaza, from Ecuadorian side Independiente Del Valle.
With seven goals in three matches so far, the wonderkid would be calling attention for his physique, and recently spoke to Globo Esporte about these rumours.
“Yes, some clubs came to me. But I’m cool. I have three years of contract with Independiente.”
Independiente Del Valle have now reached the semifinals, which will be played against Uruguayan side River Plate next Wednesday.
If Manchester City are really interested, a club scout will definitely be at the Estádio Centenário to watch the youngster.
