With his contract at Manchester City running out at the end of the month, and the Premier League club already letting him know they will be releasing him, Bacary Sagna is looking for a new club.

We’ve already covered quite a lot of the speculation, especially when there was a possibility he could end up at West Ham, but the latest serious destination for the France international is Marseille.

The French club need someone else to help Hiroki Sakai in that role, and an experienced player like Sagna could have the same impact Patrice Evra’s had when the former Manchester United defender arrived in January.

According to France Football, there’s a 60% chance of the transfer happening this summer, especially since the 34-year-old has already met the club’s director of football, Andoni Zubizarreta, when the two had a chat back in May.

Sagna was then offered a two-year deal, which would keep him at the club until 2019 (the same as Evra), allowing Marseille a bit more time to highlight the long-term option for their OM Champions Project.

France Football also explain that his wife, Ludivine, wouldn’t be against a return to France, as she knows she’d be able to get some TV work there, having already done so in the past.

Unless there is a big difference in opinion over personal terms, this looks like one that could get done fairly soon.
