For those not familiar with just how badly Sevilla are doing this season, a quick glance at La Liga’s current table will come as something of a shock.

The club are currently on 25 points from 24 points, and that sees them in 17th position. That’s just one place ahead of the relegation zone, and they’re only outside of that due to having a better goal difference (by 2) than Almeria.

Sevilla lost 6-1 to Atletico Madrid at the weekend, and their solitary goal came from Youssef En-Nesyri, who has long been wanted by West Ham United.

AS say David Moyes’ side made an offer for the forward ‘weeks ago’, presumably during the January window. That West Ham offer was a loan deal with an ‘almost mandatory’ purchase clause of €20m.

Whilst that effort from West Ham was on the low side, what Sevilla are said to be looking for ahead of the summer is on the high side.

AS go with a headline saying ’50 goals. 50 million’.

Those 50 goals aren’t just from this season, indeed they’re not even just from his time with Sevilla, but date back to the start of the 2016/17 season and include all his La Liga strikes.

This season En-Nesyri has scored 12 goals and whilst that’s not terrible, just five of those have come in La Liga, which partly explains Sevilla’s problems.

Therefore to ask West Ham, or anyone else for that matter, for €50m seems rather ambitious. Should Sevilla face the worst and be relegated then the price will obviously drop way below that.
