Amadou Onana’s imminent arrival at Everton will not affect a potential move for Idrissa Gana Gueye.
That’s according to journalist Marc Mechenoua, who says Frank Lampard wants both players in through the door this summer.
Everton are pushing ahead with a big money move for Onana, with reports today stating they are in the final stages of that transfer.
His potential arrival has overshadowed the return of Gueye, who has been linked with a move back to Goodison Park this summer after falling out of favour at Paris Saint Germain.
There had been a suggestion Everton would sign one and not the other but Mechenoua insists that is not the case.
He says the move for Onana ‘has no bearing’ on Everton’s desire to sign Gueye and Frank Lampard ‘wants both players’ as opposed to one or the other.
That will come as great news for Everton fans, who it seems can look forward to two new faces in their midfield if things go to plan.
L’arrivée d’Amadou Onana à Everton n’a pas d’incidence sur la volonté des Toffees de recruter Idrissa Gueye. Frank Lampard veut les deux joueurs. #mercato @GoalFrance
