Manchester City were one of the many clubs who had scouts watching Benfica’s Europa League clash against Galatasaray on Thursday.
It’s newspaper Record who reports the Premier League club’s visit to the Estádio da Luz, although the outlet is not certain of who their targets were.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been linked to a few Benfica players lately. One of them is Alex Grimaldo, with City’s interest being reported for over an year now.
Earlier this month, a story from the Portuguese press also claimed that defender Ruben Dias and attacker João Félix could be targets for the English side as well.
With the game ending with a 0-0 draw, not many players impressed.
Ruben Dias had a safe match as always; Grimaldo, picked as Man of the Match by Record, did well in defence and even created some chances in attack; and João Félix had the most discreet performance among them, as he wasn’t able to do much for the 90 minutes.
Those three again look like legitimate Manchester City targets, and the regular scouting would back that up.
Other clubs who sent scouts to this match were Juventus, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, Everton, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Milan, Sevilla, Arsenal and Real Valladolid.
