Manchester United continue to scout several games in the Portuguese league. The number of matches they watch means it’s not always worth covering, with the assumption being that if there’s a match on for one of the big clubs, the Red Devils will have someone there.
But there’s something we couldn’t just let pass today, as according to newspaper O Jogo, the Red Devils are back following Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
From a big list of scouts, Manchester United are the only club who are highlighted in the headline, and the only club with a specific target named.
Sporting played an away game against Portimonense, and won 3-1. Bruno Fernandes couldn’t score this time, although he made assists for all of the Lions’ three goals.
Once the Premier League transfer window closed, the Portuguese press was still confident that Bruno Fernandes could end up moving to Spain or France.
But things have been quiet lately, and it’s interesting to see that Manchester United are being linked so early in the season.
The club were linked strongly with Victor Lindelof the window before they signed him, and continued to scout Benfica, so there’s potentially some credit in the claims.
Chelsea, Leicester City, Mallorca, Sevilla, Lech Poznan, Bayern Munich and Koln attended the match as well.
