Glasgow Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has hailed manager Steven Gerrard, admitting he has helped improve his character.
Morelos has been one of the stars of the show for Rangers under Gerrard’s leadership, with the striker boasting 74 goals and 34 assists in 131 games under the former Liverpool midfielder’s management.
The biggest change has been in the Colombian’s mentality, though, with his previous bad-boy image now close to being a thing of the past.
Morelos has developed a taste for bookings and red cards since arriving in Scotland, with 47 yellows, four double yellows and three straight reds to his name so far.
Thirty-five of those yellow and all of the reds have come under Gerrard, but there has been significant improvement in the last two years, with Morelos not being seeing a straight red since 2017/18 and only picking up seven yellows this year.
That is something he credits to Gerrard, who the Rangers striker says has ‘corrected’ him in many aspects of his game.
“Gerrard has been an important person for my career,” he told El Vbar on Caracol Radio.
“He has corrected me in many aspects, such as reducing the red and yellow cards.”
“A striker cannot have those statistics of many red cards, and he has helped me improve my character.”
