Fraser Foster has featured regularly for Southampton in this calendar year, making 19 appearances in all competitions.
The goalkeeper is out of contract at the end of this month and is reportedly close to joining Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer.
Alex McCarthy was in goal for Southampton in the first half of the season and like Foster, he also has a deal expiring on June 30th. The Saints, therefore, are active in the market to find at least one new goalkeeper.
Last week, La Nazione stated Fiorentina’s Bartłomiej Drągowski is expected to arrive at St Mary’s. The Serie A man’s compatriot, Mateusz Lis, is also a target for the Saints.
That’s according to Meczyki, who state the 25-year-old ‘will become a new Southampton player’. He is without a club after cutting ties with Turkish side Altay last month.
It’s said the deal to take Lis to Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side is ‘already on the home straight’ and he is expected to sign a four-year deal with them.
Although the Pole is set to join Southampton, Meczyki add it’s not clear whether he will be included in Hasenhüttl’s plans. One of the possibilities is to send Lis out on loan and if that were to be the case, a temporary move to France could be on the cards.
