At the beginning June, Leeds United were linked with 23 year old Caleb Ekuban by Ghana Soccer Net.
The Championship club were said to be favourites to sign the Chievo Verona player, and then over the next week or so further clubs were brought in as competition.
In mid June, Ekuban was linked with Thomas Christiansen’s former club Apoel Nicosia, which brought about the possibility of an interesting transfer battle for the striker.
Then it all went quiet, and with other names coming into the Leeds United rumour mill, and players actually arriving at Elland Road, Ekuban was pretty much forgotten as a possible target.
Gazzetta dello Sport may have done enough to reignite the story in their Monday edition.
It’s claimed that Ekuban is on his way out of Chievo Verona, and is ‘directed towards’ Leeds United.
No other possible destinations are mentioned, and whilst Gazzetta clearly expect an Ekuban exit to happen, there’s no elaboration whatsoever other than naming Leeds United as the club he’s heading towards.
