On August 11th, we covered claims made in Belgium that Manchester City and Anderlecht have reached a ‘verbal agreement’ for Sergio Gómez’s transfer.

It was also explained the left-back will sign a four-year deal with the English champions.

De Morgen state the 21-year-old had set his sights on making a switch to the Etihad for a while, and while he remained professional, he was waiting for an offer from Manchester City.

On Wednesday evening, Pep Guardiola’s side made a proposal for Gómez.

The Belgian club will receive at least €15m and with bonuses included, the overall cost could reach ‘more than €20m’. They are in line to receive 15 percent of the fee from the player’s sale, which they ‘strongly negotiated’ with Manchester City.

It’s claimed Gómez travelled to Manchester yesterday for medical tests and the transfer is expected to be formalised today. De Morgen’s report is also backed up by journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Tavolieri explains that depending on the fullback’s medical and paperwork related to the operation, Gómez could be ‘presented as a new Manchester City player’ today.
