Ajax are still waiting on a further 200 fans to collect their tickets for tonight’s Champions League clash with Liverpool.
That’s according to Tubantia, who cover the situation today after issues at Schiphol airport led to many Ajax fans being trapped in the Netherlands.
We covered reports earlier today about how 1200 fans had already collected their tickets from Everton’s Goodison Park, with the Dutch club waiting to see if the other 1400 would make it in time.
Ajax fans were said to be doing ‘everything they can’ to attend the game, taking flights all over Europe via alternate routes to get to Merseyside for the game.
Tubantia follow that up now, stating that long queues at Schiphol airport have caused numerous fans to miss their flights.
Around 200 supporters are ‘now in danger’ of not being able to reach the stadium on time, while they had until 16:30 to collect tickets from Goodison Park.
Ajax have now heard from supporters that they are ‘no longer able’ to reach Liverpool because of the crowds at the airport.
The club’s supporters affair department are keeping in touch with those who are still en route and may be able to get to Anfield before kick-off.
An Ajax spokesperson could not say how many hope to arrive before 8pm, though.
2400 tickets have already been claimed, meaning they now await the final 200 amid their last-minute, chaotic dash to Liverpool.
