IFK Norrkoping defender Linus Wahlqvist has told the Swedish media it’s hard to escape the constant speculation of interest from other clubs. The 20-year-old was yesterday again linked with a move to Leeds United in his home country.

Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, Wahlqvist was asked about the interest from clubs, including Leeds United. The Sweden international said such rumours are on your mind, but you can’t think about it too much.

Wahlqvist revealed from past experiences if you haven’t signed then you must ignore the speculation of moving to another club.

“Absolutely. It’s clear that this is always in your mind, it is difficult to put aside immediately. But as I said, I have learned that as long if nothing is signed, there is nothing to think about. Since it is clear that it is always there, it’s hard to escape,” said the Swede.

Yesterday we covered reports from Sweden that Leeds United are still interested in Wahlqvist after being linked with the youngster in November.

Leeds United pursuit for the defender began in the summer when the Swedish press claimed the Championship side made an attempt to sign the right back.

In November it was then reported the Championship side could look to make an offer for Wahlqvist in this transfer window.
