Chelsea youngster Ian Maatsen has travelled to Rotterdam ahead of a proposed move to Feyenoord this summer.

That’s according to 1908, who say the 20-year-old is ‘awaiting an agreement’ between Feyenoord and Chelsea over a loan deal.

Maatsen returned to Stamford Bridge this summer after a successful loan spell at Coventry last season, but was not likely to be a part of Thomas Tuchel’s immediate plans.

That’s seen him linked with several clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, but it is Feyenoord who have jumped to the front of the queue.

Earlier this week, it was reported that they had ‘already reached an agreement’ with the youngster about a move to the Netherlands, although they still needed to find an agreement with Chelsea.

It seems that remains the case, but 1908 say that Maatsen is in Rotterdam waiting for that deal to be reached.

That would suggest the defender is confident of it happening sooner rather than later, and he’ll be spending next season in the Eredivisie.
