In dire need of a striker after Sergio Agüero was allowed to leave the club on a free and head to Barcelona, Manchester City targeted Harry Kane.

It was a long, drawn out saga, which ended with the Tottenham striker staying put, as Spurs decided against selling him to league rivals, regardless of the amount of money put on the table.

Kane wasn’t overly thrilled about that, and it’s shown in some of his performances this season so far.

The desire to win trophies is still there, meaning both club and player will likely be in a similar position next summer, when Manchester City could very well come back with another attempt to convince Daniel Levy to sell the England international.

In fact, Tuttosport in Italy believe there is only a slim chance, 20% in fact, of Spurs holding onto their star, with Pep Guardiola’s side given a 60% certainty of them acquiring the forward.

The other 20% are handed out, perhaps overly kindly, to Real Madrid, who are more than likely to focus on Kylian Mbappé instead, as there’s a great possibility of getting him on a free instead of spending over £100m on Kane.

It’s all fun and games for now, and these numbers certainly aren’t set in stone nor mean anything, but it just shows you how people see this particular scenario working out.
