West Ham United have joined the chase for Genoa’s Koni De Winter in the winter market, according to multiple claims from Italy.
The centre-back initially joined the Serie A club on loan from Juventus in 2023 and they made his stay permanent last summer. A hamstring injury kept him away from the pitch for over two months between October and December.
De Winter was a regular for Genoa before the setback and has maintained his place in the starting lineup since regaining full fitness. He made 13 appearances in all competitions this season.
Sportitalia journalist Gianluigi Longari took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover West Ham’s interest.
Mirko Di Natale had earlier reported about AC Milan looking at the 22-year-old. Longari backs it up and then states the Hammers appreciate his profile.
Mondo Udinese are also reporting that West Ham are in the picture to sign the Belgium international late in this window.
They state David Moyes’ side and Milan have been after De Winter, while AS Roma are in the pole position.
Genoa, for their part, have no inattention of letting him leave in this window. The report then states the Belgian’s asking price is €15m, which indicates the fee needed to convince the Italian club to change their stance.
