Manchester City’s Kayky is set to join Esporte Clube Bahia, according to multiple claims from Brazil.
The winger spent over 450 days on the sidelines after suffering a serious injury in July 2023. Despite this, the Citizens sent him on a loan to Sparta Rotterdam last summer. He returned to the pitch in October and made seven appearances for the Dutch club.
Journalist Venê Casagrande took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state the Manchester City man is on his way to Bahia.
He claims the operation has been finalised, likely between the two clubs, and transfer will be ‘announced soon’. The 21-year-old had a loan spell at the Brazilian club in 2023 and will now start a second spell with them.
Casagrande’s claim is backed up by Globo Esporte, who then provide more details on the agreement between Bahia and Manchester City.
The winter market in England and most other major European leagues closed on Monday. On deadline day, Sporting signed Biel from Bahia and Kayky will take his place at the Brazilian club.
Globo claim the agreement is until the end of the 2025 Brazilian season, which lasts until December. Manchester City will cover Kayky’s full salary during his temporary stay at Bahia.
They add the player is already in Salvador, which indicates the transfer should be made official soon.
