Aston Villa have identified Flamengo’s Wesley França as a target to strengthen their defence in the winter market.
Journalist Venê Casagrande took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to claim Aston Villa ‘presented an offer’ of €15m for the right-back and Flamengo rejected it.
Globo Esporte are also reporting the Brazilian club turned down the €15m offer made by the Villans for the defender.
Last year, the 21-year-old received proposals from AFC Bournemouth and Atalanta, who offered €20m. La Dea’s bid was accepted but the deal didn’t go through in the end.
This didn’t seem to impact Wesley, who starred and made 51 appearances last year and was the best right-back in the Brazilian league.
The report states both Flamengo and the player’s agent are expecting to receive new bids for him, likely in this window.
Due to his rise, the South American club are aiming to collect at least €25m for Wesley. In other words, the Villans need to improve their offer by €10m to sign the fullback.
Unai Emery currently has Matty Cash and Kosta Nedeljković as the two right-backs at Villa Park and has talked about the possibility of the latter going out on loan. If that happens, Aston Villa may have to sign a new right-back in January.
