Lyon trained at Goodison Park on Wednesday night, ahead of their Europa League match this evening. It was a depleted Lyon squad which travelled to Everton, and any hopes of involvement for players including Mariano Diaz were dashed when they didn’t even make the trip to Liverpool.

After seeing the travelling party and Lyon’s training, L’Equipe will be in a better position for their predicted team on Thursday, but given the fitness circumstances it’s still difficult for them to get it right.

One call the French newspaper are making is that Myziane Maolida will start, and add to his 77 minutes so far this season. The 18 year old striker is highly rated at Lyon and L’Equipe think it’s a good chance to start him, asking: ‘Frankly, why wait?’

Behind him, Lyon will field an impressive, on paper at least, trio of Bertrand Traore, Nabil Fekir, and Memphis Depay, and should those three be near top form then it’s going to be a tricky night for Everton’s defence.

Whilst L’Equipe certainly won’t have the same insight on the home team, they expect Wayne Rooney and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to start.
